We hope this message finds you and your family in good health. Recently, the New Jersey COVID-19 Weekly CALI & Variant Report has indicated that our county is currently at a VERY HIGH level of transmission of COVID-19. Consequently, the Princeton Athletic Health and Safety continue to support restricting spectator attendance at athletic events.
Motivating factors:
- Our priority is to keep our students healthy and our schools open, so our student-athletes can continue to play the sports they love.
- Indoor athletic events present a far greater risk for the spread of Covid-19 than outdoor events.
- Crowded gymnasiums/ venues could pose a profound health risk during times of significant Covid-19 transmission.
- Spectator attendance rules should be based upon the guidance of public health experts and local relevant health data, which will be evaluated throughout the season.
As a result, the following spectator attendance guidelines have been updated for Princeton Middle School:
- Masks must be worn consistently and appropriately by all attendees and athletes on sidelines. Princeton Public Schools STRONGLY recommends properly fitted surgical, N95, or KN 95 masks.
- A minimum physical distance 6’ should be practiced by all attendees.
- No individual should attend our athletic events if they have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been around anyone who is suspected of having COVID-19.
- Only student athletes participating in the event will be allowed to attend, and adult family members of the student-athletes.
- Each area middle school has the right to implement spectator attendance limitations if it is believed to be appropriate or to ensure adequate physical distancing.
