Welcome back! We are pleased to introduce ourselves as the returning field hockey co-coaches this season. Ms. Alicia Perrine, a 6th grade mathematics teacher at JWMS, played field hockey for many years, including some time at the collegiate level. She is eager to share her knowledge of the sport through coaching. Ms. Annemarie Goslin is a 7th grade mathematics teacher at JWMS and has been coaching at JW for four years. Together we look to continue our successful field hockey program another season and promote a love for competition and cooperation.
All students 12 years or older must take the IMPACT test and be medically cleared by the school nurse in order to participate in the tryouts/practices. As a friendly reminder, ALL students must take the IMPACT test once every two years. Princeton Public Schools has adopted a “cut policy” to which we will adhere. The athletes will be evaluated on their skill level, enthusiasm, and dedication. Playing time in every game is not guaranteed. However, all players on the team will receive game-time experience over the course of the season. Our goal is to provide all student-athletes with a positive environment where they may continue to learn and grow in preparation for a successful transition to high school field hockey.
Equipment for field hockey includes the following mandatory items with no exceptions: stick, approved field hockey goggles with ASTM F2713-09 imprinted on them, mouth guards, shin guards, and cleats. Players must also come equipped with a refillable water bottle to hydrate while playing. This year students will attend practice and home games at John Witherspoon Middle School. Practice will end at 4:35 everyday whereas game end/return times can vary. Please provide the necessary transportation to accommodate the practice and game end times. Players who walk must provide a written note to Coach Perrine or Coach Goslin with a parent/guardian signature.
To view practice and game schedules and to be notified of any changes, please visit the new JWMS Athletics Website. Also follow Coach Perrine on Twitter @APerrine23 where times and statistics of games will be updated. Please look for weekly notifications that will be delivered through email throughout the season to maximize communication and clarity. Please contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to another fantastic season and thank you for your continued support. See you on the field!
