Attendance Rules
Teams will practice on the days and times set forth by the JW schedule. Attendance at practice is mandatory.
Practices/ Games
Obviously, a player who is not in school for the entire day may not participate in practice or games that day and their absence is considered excused
If a player is in school for the entire day and does not attend practice or game, she will need a note from the school nurse or family doctor explaining the absence otherwise it is an unexcused absence
If a player is absent for a significant amount of time consecutively (2 or more weeks) due to illness or injury, a doctor's note giving clearance to continue playing will be required.
If player has an unexcused absence from practice that player will not play in the first half of the next scheduled game that he or she attends
Team member misses two (2) scheduled practices within a week
Player may not participate in the next scheduled game
Players who come to practice unprepared to participate more than two times during a week of scheduled practices will be marked as unexcused

On any basketball team at any level the top 8-9 players get the majority of playing time however successful teams get contributions from players 10 thru 12 as well; these role players are just as important as the first 8. You must be able and willing to contribute despite the possibility of limited or no playing time
Keep in mind that the season is long and roles can change for a number of reasons (Injury, illness, foul trouble consistent poor performance by a player higher ahead of you, just to name a few)
As long you continue work hard in practice and enthusiastic and engaged during games you will have the opportunity to move up the depth chart
We will discuss with all potential players their projected role on either A or B squads
It is not our intention to have floaters this year, players will either be designated as or Varsity and remain with that team and in that role for the duration of the season. All returning players will be given the option in some cases of accepting either a limited role on the A team, competing with the B team or not being a member of the program. New players that make the team will have to earn and accept whatever role available, if that is unacceptable opting out of the program is also an option |
If there is at least a 75% chance that I will be on the A squad but may not play regularly (top 8 players) I would like to stay with the varsity If my chances are not that good I would prefer to be placed on the B squad |
|
I understand and accept and will stay with the A squad |
|
I would prefer to be moved to the B squad |
If my chances of playing regularly on the A squad are less than 50% meaning that there is the strong possibility there may be games where I would play very little (if at all) and in this role I may only be used in emergency or special situations I would still prefer to stay on the A squad |
