In order to try out, all players must take the IMPACT test, be medically cleared by the school, and have all softball paperwork submitted. As a friendly reminder, ALL students must take the IMPACT test once every two years. To register for an IMPACT test, please go to the PUMS Athletics webpage. Princeton Public Schools has adopted a “cut policy” to which we will adhere. The athletes will be evaluated on their skill level, enthusiasm, and dedication. Playing time in every game is not guaranteed. However, all players on the team will receive game-time experience over the course of the season. Our goal is to provide all student-athletes with a positive environment where they may continue to learn and grow in preparation for a successful transition to high school softball.
Softball practices will begin at 3:30pm and end at approximately 4:50pm. Equipment for softball includes the following mandatory items with no exceptions: a baseball glove, cleats, gray baseball pants, and solid blue socks for games. Throughout the season, players should be prepared to practice outdoors in less than perfect weather conditions and for indoor training sessions on days that we are unable to train outside, so players should have sneakers with them as well, because some tryout and rain days will have us in the gym. Also, please be sure that your child brings a water bottle each day.
This year students will attend practice and home games at PUMS Softball JV Field. . Students that are planning to walk home should provide the coaches a written note from their parent or guardian. In the case of an away game, we will return to PUMS for pickup/ dismissal. Please be aware that players who qualify for the softball team may be dismissed early from their class to attend an away game that requires additional travel time.
**Please reach out to us if there are any issues with getting the right equipment or accessing a physical. We will find a way to help you. :)**
