PMS Spring 2024 Season Wrap-Up
Track and Field
For the second year in a row, the Boys & Girls Track & Field Team had an undefeated season. The Boys' Shot put, Discus, 400m, and 4x100m all-time school records were beat, and both teams showed tremendous growth in all 11 events that we offer. At the 2024 Junior Minutemen Games, our Girls' Team came in 1st place, while our Boys' Team came in 3rd place. This was the first time we participated in an all-relay event like this, and our athletes had an absolute blast. Coach Lee, Coach Spera, Coach González, and Coach Ward are incredibly proud of all our athletes and look forward to future seasons together.
Baseball
It was truly a privilege to able to coach the boys baseball team again this year. Regardless of all the difficulties and moving parts throughout the season, the boys were able to piece together a winning record of 6-5 & 1. This was achieved through the hard work and flexibility from the entire team. Players stepped up when asked to take on a bigger roll in practices helping those around them learn and get better while still putting in work themselves. This created the best opportunity to strive for success as a team. Because this is an age where you should learn to love the game, our policy through the year has always been to work hard, but have fun doing it. We did the best we could to shape an environment that had the boys joking around having fun by creating situations and incentives in practice that promote fun competition between each other. With that mindset the goal was to create not just a team, but a brotherhood with the boys. By the end of the season that was accomplished and they wanted to win for each other, working together to be the best they can be. Though we will miss our 8th graders next year, we look forward to the future with all of our 6th and 7th graders. The foundation we've built from this year creates excitement and anticipation for the next season together
Boys Lacrosse
Our season had its ups and downs, however for the 2nd year in a row we had a winning season. Our future defiantly looks bright with our new influx of 6th grade students.
Softball
As the softball season comes to a close, we look back on a year filled with growth, laughter, and camaraderie. While our record shows 3 wins and 10 losses, the true victories lie in the memories we've created, the skills we've developed, and the bonds we've formed.
Season Highlights:
• Wins and Losses: We celebrated 3 hard-earned wins this season, demonstrating our determination and resilience on the field. Despite facing tough opponents and ending with 10 losses, each game provided valuable learning experiences and opportunities for growth.
• Skill Development: This season was particularly special as we welcomed many new players to the world of softball. Our team focused on fundamental skills, ensuring every player improved significantly from the first practice to the last game. Watching first-time players develop into confident and capable team members was a highlight for everyone involved.
• Pitching Excellence: With just two dedicated pitchers, our team managed to strike out 40 batters throughout the season. Their perseverance and hard work were evident in every game, and their growth in both skill and confidence was inspiring.
• Offensive Achievements: Our offense was highlighted by one exciting home run and a collective total of 30 RBI's. Each hit and run scored was a testament to our players' dedication to improving their batting skills.
• Defensive Challenges: While we allowed 100 runs, each defensive play was a chance to learn and adapt. Our players showed remarkable spirit, never giving up and always striving to improve their fielding and teamwork.
• Team Spirit: One of our proudest achievements was the strong bond formed among the players. From the first practice to the final game, our team shared countless laughs and created memories that will last a lifetime. The camaraderie and support among the girls were the true heart of our season.
• Health and Safety: We're grateful to report that we experienced very few injuries this season. The health and well-being of our players were always a top priority, allowing everyone to enjoy the game and each other's company safely.
As we reflect on this season, it's clear that success isn't measured solely by the scoreboard. The friendships forged, the lessons learned, and the fun we had together are the real victories. Each player should be proud of their contributions and progress. We look forward to seeing how these experiences shape their future in softball and beyond.
Looking Forward:
We are excited about the future and can't wait to build on this season's experiences. With continued dedication and teamwork, we're confident that our team will achieve even greater heights in the coming years.
Girls Lacrosse
The Princeton Middle School lacrosse team had an exhilarating and memorable season this year. Led by captains Tess, Liora, and Sevanne, the team saw tremendous growth, both from new players who improved significantly and returning players who stepped into mentorship roles. The team's comradery was evident in every practice and game, making lacrosse something to look forward to each day.
One highlight from the season was our remarkable progress between games against Timberlane, one of our most formidable opponents. Our second match against Timberlane showcased a significant leap in our performance compared to the first, reflecting all of the hard work we put in at practice. Our season ended on a high with our final game against Princeton Day School (PDS), where we exceeded all expectations by tying 10-10, a result that left everyone beaming with pride.
Coaches Dineen and Connors extend their heartfelt thanks to all the players and supporters for their dedication and enthusiasm throughout the season. We look forward to welcoming our 6th and 7th graders back next year and wish our 8th graders the best of luck as they move on to PHS!
