Boys Basketball end of season summary 2024-25:
A team- The A team did a great job this basketball season and improved so much as the season went on. I will say, we got off to a rough start. Players showed attitude towards each other and during games they were playing a lot of 1-on-1, rather than team basketball. We also did a lot of complaining to the referees. But these are things that were worked on in practice and we started winning games. Once we started running plays we worked on practice, it became a lot easier to score the basketball and it led to a 3-game win streak. Once we became a team on and off the court, the progress started to happen, and I am so proud of how we finished the season. The playoff win vs Timberlane is what this team was capable of all season.
B team- From start to finish, the B team demonstrated a winning attitude on and off the court. Their dedication during practice was phenomenal and it felt like a team effort from the beginning. This led to a 13-1 season. But this team is still hungry, and all they can think about is winning a ring next season. I plan to be with them every step of the way. Their communication on the court was infectious. During dead balls, they would huddle up with each other and talk about what the game plan was on offense and defense. This is something that did all on their own without my instruction. I look forward to next season when they become the A team.

Girls Basketball Season Summary 2024-25
At the beginning of the season, we established three teams: A, B, and C, with Team C designated for practice players. We also included several swing players in our roster. By retaining all individuals who participated in tryouts, we were able to build upon the progress made in the previous year, leading to more athletes excited to be part of the program. The players on Team C gained valuable playing time in later games and contributed significantly to the team's success. B team, focused on specific lineups that were rotated quarterly supporting the "growth model". The hope is that this "growth model" will allow B team players to develop into A team players next year.
Early on in the season, we focused on teaching fundamental skills to players with limited experience or other sport backgrounds. We focused on working on emerging skills - ball handling, passing, shooting, cutting, how to get open, moving without the ball, etc.
In the later part of the season we began to focus more on what a play would look like (basic motion offense, what an offense against a zone would look like, & running an inbound play). Although the A-team’s season ended with a 3 - 9 record, the conclusion of the season reflects the dedication, hard work, and consistent attendance of our players, as we helped develop skills in practices. We showed our continued efforts when A team beat Timberlane after they had beaten us earlier this season.
Before the start of the season, we would have preferred morning practices, but we recognize the importance of adhering to district policies, including the decision to forgo home games. This choice led to the extra full court practices which in no small part contributed to our team's moment. This situation allowed us to concentrate on training, resulting in improved scoring, stronger defensive performance, and enhanced player intelligence on the court. We really appreciated admin. and PMS coordinator support throughout the season!
It's a team effort, and I think our last home game win really showed that! GO TIGERS!
We are excited to see our 6th graders as 7th graders and our rising 8th graders show their improvement on the court. Almost all the A team was comprised this year of our 8th graders, so we will be a very young team next year, but we hope to keep building on this year's momentum!

Princeton Middle School Wrestling: 2024-2025 Season
The John Witherspoon Middle School Wrestling Team had a successful season under coaches Kevin Homan and Benito Gonzalez. The team finished a 2-10 record, with wins over Paul Robeson and Kreps. Although the record might not sound impressive on its own, we had multiple wrestlers participate and find success at this year’s Mercer County Tournament. We also had many first-time or new wrestlers, and many of them made clear strides in their ability and interest throughout the season. Thanks to increased student interest, we are hopeful that we can build a stronger program that will feed into and support the high school program.
One of the highlights of our season was our county tournament at Robbinsville High School. Against teams from all over the county, we had multiple wrestlers perform well in their weight class: Alex Wayne with 2nd place, Tyson Schomaker with 3rd, and Geyber Alarcon with 4th. We were very proud of their accomplishments!
Overall, we were pleased with the team’s performance and growth this year. Good luck to our 8th grade wrestlers heading to the high school, and we look forward to continuing our work next year.
